27 March 2007 Driving That Will Blow Your Mind [Music: FC Kahuna - "Hayling"] I finally compiled the DDA Webcam video. It's a time lapse of the 15,193 road images captured once a minute by the windshield webcam. You will see almost every mile of the 16,748 miles we added to the car's odometer. Each frame represents one minute, so don't look away for a second or you'll miss an entire half hour of the drive. Check out the map to get a better idea of what you're really seeing. Update: Hey, look! We made it onto Gadling! Just ignore the fact that I wrote the piece. Permalink: http://double-d-america.com/blog/archives/84.html Tags: [driving], [webcam]

Well, first of all, AWESOME idea. Secondly, thank you for taking the time to do it and compile it. Third, I have a suggestion: I would have slowed it down a bit. I know that would have added significant time to the piece, longer download times, etc., but I feel, IMHO, it would have made the video more enjoyable than it already was. Once again, great job!!
Dan
Great work! I also feel that slowing the video
down would enhance the content. Congrats on an
incredible journey!
Terri
Thanks! That was freaking awesome!! You're right don't blink!!
Lorraine
I think this was a fantastic idea. I really enjoyed watching it. I would have really loved to see it in slow motion. Is there any way you can slow it down? It must have been an awesome trip. Great idea!
Bob
This is really cool!! My wife and I did a trip back in '79 - 11,000 miles long 47 days. Before web cams. Thanks for sharing your trip! :-)
Jack
You obviously drive way too fast!
Clint
Great idea and execution. Quite a "trip". Thanks.
If the camera recorded one frame for each minute then you averaged over 66 MPH including all the stops and traffic. That would mean minimum speeds well over 80-90 at times. Maybe the video isn't the only thing could benefit from slowing down.

Hey~ thanx for the memories. I Went on a five week cross country camping trip this past summer. . .one filled with awe and wonder (amoung other emotions which come with the territory LOL) only those who have experienced it could possibly know the feeling and yet you gave the rest of the world a glimpse!. . .wonderful!
Laura
And the music is perfect!! Who is this band?
Larry

Jim
It Rocks! Awesome!
I'm glad people are liking this.
And, Clint was right, maximum velocity on the trip got up over 100mph, but that was in Montana, so it's alright. ;-) Don't try this at home, kids.
This is so unbelievably cool!
